Aftermarket / OEM / Original 205 Rear Wheel Cylinder incorrect size / diameter

On 1.6 rear beams we tried various aftermarket(supplied by GSF/ECP/Page's etc) wheel cylinders and the outer diameter where the cylinder meets the back plate was shy by ~0.8mm.  800 microns might not seem like a lot but all of the pressure under breaking would be applied to the bolts and would cause early failure.

The wheel cylinder was the circle type (Lucas Girling afaik).

In the end I had to resort to Spoox sending out an original Peugeot boxed rear wheel cylinder.  This cost me ~£30 as opposed to the ~£5 for aftermarket.

We tried 5 suppliers / OEM Mftr, I can't remember each brand but could find out.

Any tips for a good supplier at a good price which does fit the back plate correctly?  I need 9 more.. ;\

The bolts just hold the cylinder in place. They don’t see any load. If you think about how the pistons sit in the wheel cylinder with a common bore, all the load is between the two shoes. Equal and opposite reaction etc. The bolts don’t take any force. The shoes take the hydraulic force, the large lugs on the brake backing plate take the rotational force.
