(not to be confused with the CT)

2 niggling faults

1: It used to jump out of gear when slowing down, or sometimes when speeding up and needing to change up a gear, but it sort of went away for a few months and although it's not

in situ at the moment the car feels a little wobbly when covering country roads, shocks seem ok, springs the same but very very occasionally it still drops out of gear, more so when

the wife drives it and thats because the clutch is alien to her, when she goes through the gear she dips the clutch so much that every gear change feels notchy/jerks.  Is this possibly

a gearbox fault or an engine mount?

Summer is coming (think it's on June11th this year), so off with the cover, a change or pads/tyres and a trip to the MOT station and all went well (no advisores)

2: The car is lumpy, it's sort of ok when it gets warm but when idling at a junction you have to keep dipping the accelerator to raise the revs a little for when taking off or it

seems to die or stall or almost stall...take your pick, the engine when revved is as sweet as a nut, there is no oil in the water or vice versa and there appears no compression

loss, it's racey (as far as a 1.4 - 205 Petrol can be...

When driving it home yesterday (it's the wifes summer fun car)  i noticed the exhaust light on (is this the cat?) would intermittently come on? is this linked to 2?   Can you take

the Cat off?

Finally, is there a mechanic /garage where these faults could be diagnosed/recitifed ( I'm unable to get under a car at the moment due to physical impairment)  I'm East Midlands based.

Any ideas or is this not the forum to post non gti stuff on?

Your jumping out of gear fault sounds a bit like worn out engine mounts maybe. I'd be looking at the lower torque bush first of all.

Can't help with the running issue I'm afraid, but it may help to point out what fuelling system it is, I'm assuming single point injection from the mention of a CAT?

Hello thanks for the reply,  lower torque bush sounds about right...I'll have to get that looked at.

Yes it's single point injection.

I don't have the contacts I used to,  205 specialists (not gti) are few and far between,  local garages don't like looking at them as it requires a mechanic rather than a computer and a diagnostic tool.
