Disassembling petrol cap for spraying

Recommended Posts

Braymond

Before I break it seperating the grey plastic trim from the petrol cap, can anyone tell me how/where it clips together please?

I want to spray the used petrol cap I've got, but wanted to take it apart best I can save masking bits off

Thanks

It just clips together, no adhesive or hidden fasteners.

A flat blade screwdriver or similar and gently pry and it should pop apart - there's the grey trim, the coloured section and the petrol cap body itself.

I'd suggest leaving the petrol cap indoors for a bit to hopefully make the plastic less brittle.

Bringing this back up , there is a tab on the grey part on the back of the cap , is this where I pry as I can't see anywhere else obvious and broken enough french plastic this week already lol There must be a tab or something keeping it together,
