Redjam007 1 Posted January 1, 2018 Hoping for some advice, or if anyone else has had this issue? My vin number which is cut into the offside body , near the scuttle / wiper panel has part rusted away, is there anyway I can replace it?? My aluminium plate is still intact and the info on that matches the V5, but just want it all ok due to refurbishing it fully.
welshpug 1,666 Posted January 1, 2018 no way to replace other than let in new steel and stamp in the vin.
speno 239 2 Cars Posted January 1, 2018 If you do that keep the old piece as the vin should be visible underneath.
MrAndy 10 Posted January 2, 2018 I have the same situation in one of my cars. In my location the correct way is that the VIN has been stamped in another location. (in my case into the right side suspension tower). It has also mentioned in the car's MOT-documents. Continuing in the same question, how have you guys operated with the stamped VIN-code in the situation, when you have re-painted the engine-room?? -A-
