[Car_Overhaul] Restored Peugeot 205 Mint Condition

Recommended Posts

Aroton

Since photobucket is blocking img-links I converted to imgur.com and started a new thread.

Bought this one-owned 1990 Peugeot 205 in 2015 to help it back on the road after its been in a storagegarage since 2007 with a snapped cambelt. It's only done 54600 miles.

I've always wanted the 205 GTI, but there are very few of them here in Norway. Still looking for one. This project was bought just as a hobby to get it back on the road since it didn't deserve to become scrapmetal. I am very pleased with the end result. Here's some pictures from how it looks today (2017) after several moods and working hours:

After the enigeoverhaul, new brakes and so on it looked like this back i 2016:

Thanks! I am considering changing interior and change from oil dampers to gas-pressure shocks front and rear.

It's very similar looking to the 1986 XT I used to own... I think a set of dampers would no doubt improve the handling mated to some lower springs would give the car a very nice stance

And since there was no radio it got that in 2016. Trying to keep it original.

The frontlight-washer did not work and the error was located to a corroded relay next to the washertank under the hood. I ordered two, but only one is needed.

And then the idlecontroll started to give the engine faulty idle. So I changed idlecontrollunit, the lambda sonde and fixed the inlet temp sensor in 2016. After that the engine worked fine.

By touching the inlet tempsensor to give it heat I got this value:

By blowing highpreassure air on it go give it cool I got this value:

Ordered the front and rear valance from France and delivered them at the local paintshop to paint them silver and the front and rear bumper in black. New screws, fog-lights etc. I'm happy with the result!

This car looks awesome, reminds me of my first couple 205's but yours is a lot cleaner. Also I'd like it if my wife refused to drive it, gives you more time to use it.

Wow! This is such an awesome project Aroton!
Funny that it's very similar to my daily driver - 205 XRD, 1.8 diesel.
Currently driving on 305 GTX Cromodora wheels, previously on 205 Gentry alloys. My summer setup is always the same: 13-inch Rallye steelies.

I also added front Rallye and rear GTI valance. Period correct mudflaps, XS grey dash + Jaeger diesel clocks. Ah, and a better steering wheel - wooden Atiwe Clubsport Indianapolis.

I've had it for 6 years, it already travelled 18 countries with me. The best 205 I've ever had for sure.

Sorry for spamming Your thread, but I felt instant brotherhood, haha

Nice pictures RafGentry! Thanks for sharing. Happy to see someone else who loves driving a non 205 GTi. Its a great car wich gives a lot of great drivingexperience. I hope to have mine for several years, since the price of selling it for a cheap price today can't compensate for the joy of owning it.

My plans is to change the interior for som GTi seats and better suspension. But to get hold of some interior parts here in Norway is close to impossible.

Maybe the car will be worth something in the future :) I hope to get hold on a 205 GTi soon. Keep on the good work and maintenance.

Got hold of some original parts today. The plan is to fix this and maybe change for bronze windows all around.

Did some upgrades this weekend. Now its ready for the summertime!

Both bearings in the front change,
New shockabsorber/dampers in front and back with top-bearings,
New tie rod on both side front,
and some under car treathment.

Had some plans to lower it with springs and yellow bilstein dampers, but I want to keep it original so I got stuck to original setup.

It got markedly improved handling. It was smooth as new in corners. All worth the effort!

Heres some pictures:

Was lucky and got hold of some 205 GTi seats for some months ago.  The plan is to refurbish them with the same fabric in the middle with black genuine leather on the side together with red thread.

The fabric and the bolster was ordered from: https://205gticovers.com/ (My first order and was very suprised my the good service and shipping. It was outside my door in Norway 2 days after the order).

The order:

This is the interior now. The seats are  verycomfortable, but I'm sitting too high up and hoping to get a lower seat position with the GTi seats.

If anyone has suggestions for me what else I should do while I'm in the process of changing seats, it would have been great. Especially to get a lower seat position.

Since winter is around the corner the car is driven to a hot garage for storage.
In the meantime I will fix the interior.
Here is some pictures for her last minutes out in the cold nordic weather.
Next summer I hope to drive it to some car shows and dispaly it.
In the meantime I will continue the search after a good 205 GTi.
