Firstly can you easily split the joint in the hub away from the shaft? Secondly what are the two plastic rings aground the traitors for as accidently cut through one?Thanks

oem 1.9 you can yes, the plastic rings are to stop the boot from expanding at speed.

Thanks, however are the rings important?

I have also bought some new cv boots that come as a kit and require a cv boot tool to tighten the two metal sucuring rings. From looking on eBay they are referred to ear type jointing pliers. Can anyone recommend a good set. Thanks
