How To Repair Phase 2 Heater Dial?

The fan doesn't work and through investigation have discovered the dial on the dash doesn't work. Took it apart and using a piece of wire tested the circuit board which made the fan work. On the back of the white dial I assume the little what looks like a spring steel washer with two contact points makes the connection for the fan to work. No either I have put it back wrong or I'm missing something. Help fearfully appreciated.

Check the actual knob itself as my heating did not work, which turned out to be the plastic at the back split causing the knob to turn but not engage with the part on the board.

Thanks for the reply, sadly that's not it as I have removed the knob and fascia piece.
