Ryan 99 Posted June 28, 2017 Does anyone know the pinout for the fan switch in the radiator? I had to replace the plug due to corroded terminals and forgot the make a note of which wire went where. It's the later style switch with three pins in a line.

Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted June 29, 2017 I need to change the plug on that one in the pic. The metal clips are AWOL. Does a standard JPT 3 pin have the correct lugs in the moulding to fit the Peugeot fan switch?

Does a standard JPT 3 pin have the correct lugs in the moulding to fit the Peugeot fan switch? I think so.....Ive replaced mine as the clips were broken, will have a look when I get home. Ryan 99 Posted June 29, 2017 Yes a standard plug fits fine. That's what I've used.

Untitled by Tom Fenton, on Flickr On this, I am assuming Green is the earth, but which is low speed (lowest temp setting) and high speed (highest temp setting) wire out of the blue and white? Logic would say white is low as it is in order, but you never know with Peugeot! jackherer 543 Posted July 25, 2018 None of them are grounds! One will be +12v in to the switch and the other two send that +12v to the fan, the low speed one sends it via the resistor.
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted July 25, 2018 Yep, I get you, it is a 2 way switch with an open point in the middle, so I should be able to determine which colour is 12V live with a multimeter, but it is just the other two I need to determine. I would rather not stick my hand down there probing about when it is 87 degrees to check the resistance then leave it to cool down before adding the new connector!! jackherer 543 Posted July 25, 2018 You could measure the resistance of the other two wires to ground. The one with the highest resistance is low speed (i.e. through the resistor.) Obviously this still wont tell you which pins on the plug they go to though. Are your wires different colours to the photo?
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted July 25, 2018 I'm running a single fan and no resistor, so i just want the fan to come on at the lowest temp setting
jackherer 543 Posted July 25, 2018 You may as well connect the fan to both terminals then! If the switch partially fails you'll still get the fan activating when it reaches the high speed temp.
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted July 25, 2018 These switches are utter wank. I changed 2 last year on my red and green 205’s and only 12 months later both have crapped out! Not impressed! I plan to re wire via relays to take the current load off the switch and see if that improves the lifespan.
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted July 25, 2018 The relays in the later cars / twin fan setups are very different from earlier ones from what I have found when sorting out my 1FM and its aircon, in so much as the fan does not run on after the ignition has been turned off where it does on an earlier car. @jackherer That is an option I guess! I was more curious to see if anyone knew the answer. I have got the Haynes manual out and it seems that: wire 57 is the feed and on pin 1 wire 58 is slow speed as it goes to the resistor and on pin 2 wire 58A is high speed as it doesn't and is pin 3. Therefore the middle one is is slow speed whichever way you look at it and is the white one and I'll get the meter on the others.
welshpug 1,657 Posted July 26, 2018 fan loom from a single fan 2 speed zx is ideal, has a simple relay system and its Standalone, even plugs into the 205 shunt box. I think 106/saxo has Similar on single plug engines.
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted July 26, 2018 That’s interesting. I’d like to see a wiring diagram of how they did it if anyone has one?
