If you did buy the gear knob some years back maybe only the green top isn't genuine. After all 205 and 309 knobs became NFP you could still order (reversed) silver top ones as long as you knew the correct Peugeot 505 part number.

The 505 parts catalog itself wasn't on Servicebox at the time so not many people knew about it and the supply lasted a few more years.

I think I bought it in 2019 SRDT , before the cheap ones showed up from China , having never seen a genuine 205 one I wouldn't know any differences , it came from Italy , the seller has some on ebay uk at the minute .

In 2019 it could be one from Peugeot Classic, it is sold since 2017 for 29-30€ without the top.

New tops looks like they are printed, original ones are engraved from the back.

Charged the battery and it started first time after needing towed in yesterday so its heat related ,I know the 2 pin blue plug on the back of the engine thermostat block temperature sensor is damaged and can't be secured with the clip so that will need looked at soon. I did check the rotor arm and the fly lead of the dissy too before starting so who knows . Can anybody thing what else could cause to to cutout and not restart ? , I dunno what temp it was at as I wasn't looking at the gauge .

sealed up the cutouts in the passenger door with some self adhesive Peugeot sticky sheet I got of ebay  and fitted the door card , I changed all 21 clips on the card but have now found some of the screw holes for the door bins are worn and the screw won't tighten. If the door card was off id probably drill them out and  rivnut them for bolts but will try and get a coarser screw for now . . The doorcard has a bad warp at the front and won't sit flat which is annoying ,might try and stem it to soften it later.

For the door bin screw holes remove the door card then with a hammer and dolly you can probably flatten the screw holes so the screws will grip again. I’ve done it a number of times.

Thanks Andrew , I contacted the Peugeot museum about the red strips but they are currently not available and no date to remake them so the only place I can see any is retro race and rally so I have just this week got a set from there .  That one you have listed looks like it might be the stick on red strip on a roll but its hard to tell . The retro strips need special metal clips for the front and rear bumpers and at the minute its unclear how they fit but this will be one of the last jobs .

Wipers on there is a spoiler on the drivers wiper and I've pointed it towards the windscreen as that seems right to me , screenwash working now and one driving lamp back on the plug had pulled out where I cable tied the wiring up behind the headlight., other one still out .The scuttle panel was a pig to get under the new windscreen rubber . I've a new green stitched gear lever gator but the cheap industrial type stapler I got won't go through both pieces of plastic, will go through first piece to mount the gator fine  doh ! Also found the "griffe"  gearknob I bought years ago after 5 trips to the loft .

In other news I see some oil on the floor under the engine now , I didn't even look where its coming from yet ......damn !

I have those strips on my  blue 1.1 gti rep, they aren't too bad but are a slightly different profile to the originals. Again if none are available they are a good alternative :)

Looking very nice !!

How much was your front windscreen rubber ? im at the point of sending my blue shell for paint soon and the windscreen needs to be out so it a choice of sacrifice the rubber or the glass ( which seems to be the original)

Thanks Chris it's 72 euro plus post for the sunroof type from the Peugeot museum , they do both types, I'd definately try to keep the original glass , I regretted breaking mine especially when I had to give 300 for a new one (Inc delivery and fitting)

Have the red strips at home , reallly wanted griffe grey lol but not looked at them but mine were dented and bent and a few were missing so no other choice , did you use the metal bumper clips as I'm not sure which way they go in the strip yet.? It may be obvious when I try and fit them .

Cheers Leslie, ive Saved that link for when i do mine, think ill be cutting the old seal and reusing he original screen then.

And whoever gave you the £300 for a new screen and fitted was very very cheap ! Just called a local  auto window company today wanting £120 + vat just to remove.

Trims ... they actually came on the car haha, and so far i haven't removed them yet but they do look decent . You can tell though if you know what your looking at but it fools most people !

Chris I went to a small local independent glass supplier, you could go through insurance for usually 90 quid  but with mine never being on the road they might have been funny about it .It was 80 to bond in the rear again , I took it out myself but it was a pain to do and the trim seal was damaged doing it  .I think the rear seal I got was a little wider than original as U couldn't get a genuine one so doesn't sit in quite as nice but it's grand .

The miami looks great and as there were no other options the red strips will do grand .

Found out why the Bosch fuel filter still has a tiny leak the spanner on the big pressed 22 mm nut has rounded as it slipped and dented the metal into the side of the copper gasket groove a little not allowing it to sit totally flat , had a Borg and Beck one to hand which has a much shallower bottom sealing groove groove and uses thinner copper washers and its sealed fine. . Fuel filters are a complete ar*e to do as there isn't enough room to get it out past the brake pipes .

All the lights now work the front left indicator and side repeater were constantly dropping out and too dim and doing my head in as  it was random  , turns out the wire was dodgy looking/broken.corroded  just behind the connector even though the insulation was ok .I had some old off cuts of loom so soldered on some new wires , the right front driving lamp was the same story , earth wire broken inside , I had bought a coupe of Peugeot male spades so sorted that too as it was intermittent when you wiggle the cable at the plug..Wanted those jobs sorted as they involved taking the headlights out and I want to get them set soon and leave them alone after that.

Dyed the boot spoiler but the finish on the spoiler looks worn smooth in places and rough in others so not the best job and not too happy with it yet , also repaired a broken piece on the front sunroof trim I actually found inside the frame when taking it apart , I used "Q bond" which is like a supergule with powder you add to make plastic , it sets in seconds thought it was worth a try , I'm guessing a previous  owner tried to lever the trim up to get it of .

I have the 2 sunroof side trims on now but the little loop at the front is broken on one side so may take it off to attempt a repair later on again so using the old front trim. I managed to get a brand new one but as they hate being taken on /off and usually break don't want to fit it till I'm happy with the sunroof as it still catches  the left latch on all the locking  teeth  when going backwards so isn't right yet and has been off again twice now.

Also put a new ignition amp on with backing grease behind when the fuel filter was off  and changed the coil , the new one I had bought  wasn't the right profile where it tapers underneath and wouldn't sit down in to the inlet manifold so had to be fitted upside so clearly wasn't a Gti one so that's eliminated 2 possible causes of the breakdown as a bonus  . Doing some research and  it appears the coolant 2 pin  temp senor won't stop the engine only make it run rich so not much else left bar tachometric relay and fuel pump for a non start .Some progress has been made !

Up early this morn to take the 205 to get the headlights set and wheels aligned , put it on a transporter  trailer and one wheel on it was stuck on as its sat in a field with the handbrake on, dragged it 50m and tried shoving it back but no good  so ended up jacking the wheel up to batter it with a hammer which worked.

The light alignment went fine but the young guy doing the wheel alignment was chewing the locknut on the trackrod by using the wrong spanner and chewing the trackrod tube with vicegrips and taking far too long , should have brought the right spanner lol. It was quite far out and with the hex part of it to grip in at the rack book they couldn't reach it which is why they used vicegrips but it looked like you could get some movement through the subrame I dunno and they were twisting the boot but its done now . He wanted the engine running which wasn't needed and I was worried it would overheat up on the lift but the fan cut in and out. After that it leaked a little water at the oil cooler pipes so all hoses were re tightened as they often shrink after the first few runs.

I then got the tank heat shield I bought scotchbrited up, it was covered in underseal which did a great job of stopping any pitting. and polished and fitted the boot spoiler I dyed last week.  Pic should new coil on left which tapers to fit in the inlet manifold on a phase 2 , no ideal what the other one is off  ut it didn't fit.

Wet the drivers doorcard down wit water on the back to see if I can get the bad warping out and clamped it between 2 pieces of wood , worth a try , too much bother to take the passenger one back of just yet  as most clips will snap .

Retightened the shock bolts with the wheels down ,the brake pipe bracket on the lower shock kept moving and squeezing out so had to put a washer either side so keep a good hold on it while I was undeneath.

New red trims from the only current supplier I can find  retro race and rally , these look the business but I found some  issues . The side trims on the 1/4 and doors went on perfect and real easy once I found I had all the clips on the wrong way !  The wing short one uses clips you can't buy separate and I had to buy 2 small kits from France just to get these 4 clips which was annoying as you can buy virtually any other trim clip  , The first I tried I just could not get the clip to go on the trim and ended up bending it a bit , once I realized you need to open up the trim flanges a little with vicegrips to let the clip the other one went on  really well , you can't slide it on either as the ends of the flanges are pressed flat .I think on originals you can.

Now the bumpers , the standard clips are way too narrow and will just lift in/out of the trims , I'm guess Peugeot made the width on the bumper trims narrower than the doors for some reason and whoever manufactured these for cost reasons  kept it all the same or didn't know till it was too late . ,it did mention on the website you would be better with the stainless clips so I had these bought anyway for another 25 quid  , you grip these with pointy nose pliers and they fit perfect in the trim , great... not really as once you push them in the bumper they are so baggy and lose a fit the trim bulges at the corners and will just lift out with 1 finger , it would really just fly off when driving I think they are useless or I'm going it wrong.

Wanting it fitted I look about and the black rear arch fir tree clips snap in the trim , yes they are not really the right shape but they are snug and luckily I had a good few of these spare , twisting them round they just click in .most went in the bumper except the front drivers corner as you need to take of the driver arch at the bumper and I didn't want too incase I broke the pegs off. This one refused to go fully home and pushing harder bent the trim a little I should have heated the clips first to soften then , I got these fully home by getting a small piece of wood /lath and knocking on the trim after covering the end of the wood with tape.,this got them seated and if I had did that first it would have been better .They are on now look good but could have been better !

I also straightened out the towing eyes , the rear was bent towing it back last week and the front was bent the day I strapped it down collecting it all those years ago and forgot till now , It was pushing into the spoiler and I just hooked a ratchet strap to it and round the garage door and pulled it over a little after loosening the driving lamp bolt and lower front toweye bolt .Risky but it worked , I also gave it a whack underneath on the back of the toweye to help it over with a wide piece of wood and a hammer when under tension. . Old front sunroof trim fitted in the meantime to make the car watertight  as it may have to come of later, not risking the new one yet.

Looking good !

So from reading this the clips on the 1.1 miami must be also some random ones or the rears like the ones you have used ! But would you recommend getting them again ?

Thanks lads , the trims are great unfortunately the bumper ones are let down only  by having crap clips , the groove width is about 2 mm wider at a guess so no way you could crimp the trim as it will just buckle and look crap , the stainless clips fit the bumper trim brilliant unfortunately they have virtually no grip on the actual bumper . I dunno what the solution is but as you can't get new trims anywhere else afaik at the minute there isn't much choice. Things like this is why I wanted to get genuine re-manufactured ones from the Peugeot museum but it ssems like anything else they make a batch it sells out quickly  and that's it , no more being made or certainly no date.

what is needed is a copy if the original clip just a little wider to suit but this obviously has a high cost , I dunno if they have any feedback about the trims or what anybody else has done but I did what I had to to get them fitted for now .

I've been up in 2 lofts all morning ,I think I bought the rear badges years ago but can't find them ,obviously as soon as I buy again they will appear lol but now I'm doubting did I ever buy them to start with ... I think I definitely bought the genuine Peugeot badge or did I lol ?

Chris id be interested to see what clips yours has or are then even glued on or maybe they were not the retro ones but some other ones or even the ones peugeot remade?

Could you use a backing washer on the inside of the bumper so the clip fits a bit more securely? Slightly smaller than the hole in the bumper. Will be awkward to do, but if it works?

With the 2 headlights and grill out you could certainly access most of the holes Tom but not the 2 end ones I think  , its the 3 at each end would be the critical ones and especially the one on the turn on the bumper to the wing as this is where it will bulge out if its not held tight. If you could fit the washer and spread the wire legs like a split pin it would never fall off but as its stainless and very springy it could be tricky. If you put a small coil spring behind the washer it would be pulled tight all the time, there are certainly ways to make this work with a bit of time and effort, I just needed it done .I thought about somehow widening the original clips by splitting them and melting them back together as these are cheap as chips to play around with but it would need split on both sides so you keep the trim central in the groove and not disturb the peg..

Even a little bit of say tubing over the ends of the clip legs on the inside would maybe hold it better .
