Hub Carrier Alternatives

Recommended Posts

Carrier has an ovalled hole.

Apologies if this has been covered before, tried the search but I think I may be searching the wrong context.

What other hub carriers/uprights can I use?

Cars a 1.9GTI

Cheers

only 309 gti without any modification, many others can be used with modifications to the angle of the strut and size of the balljoint clamp bore.

Ah, ok, so I could use a 306 one with a sleeve in the ball joint hole? And have to use adjustable top mounts? Something along those lines

close, the damper clamp bore needs machining and sleeving as well, I dont think you can correct the lost camber quite enough with top mounts and you will need small diameter springs.

Bridgecraft engineering can do it for you.

We inadvertently fitted 306 hubs to my mates 205 once and it wasn't good, he already had 309 wishbones and eccentric top mounts set to full negative camber and with the 306 hubs this resulted in about zero camber overall!

TBH I'm surprised 205 1.9 hubs aren't more popular on 306s.

Don't tell em!!! It's getting harder and harder finding 205 1.9 uprights to go on 205's let alone the 306 brigade after the buggers!!!

I'm always happy if I get a 306 with 18mm balljoints, I wouldn't be in a rush to go down to 16mm ones ????

Especially if you have spherical bearings on the end of your arms.

I've thought of this for a few years too but we could always sell them the ovalled 1.9 hubs for machining out to 18mm to use with the later 306 balljoints. ;)
