Any Recommendations Where To Get My Be3 Gearbox Rebuilt?

Alreet,

My gearbox has made driving my 1.9 gti miserable. Crunch in second, can't enage first 80% of the time, same for 3rd and now can't get it into reverse at all. (Even when I put it in second then reverse, that's long been my technique) so i'm going to get the gearbox rebuilt. I wanted it doing anyway so might as well do it now considering I no longer have reverse.

Any reccomendations to who would do it? pref in lancashire. Also how much to pay? I'm geusssing at £500-800?

Replaced it two years ago. Although it does judder when riding the clutch in first.

Dan makes a good point. I once put 80/90 in my old 306 Dturbo, cold it refused to go in 1st. 75/80 sorted it. I was surprised too.

a good suggestion, but would not affect the non synchro reverse gear.

First check would be gearbox to block bolts, especially the lower rear. And may as well replace the cable and readjust, would be quite sensible to have this 100% anyway, especially if spending out on a recon. later.

Alright I had a look and all the bolts seem tight. This may sound stupid but is there anything missing from this picture I took? All the bolts in it are tight.

It's the wrong bolt holding the engine and gearbox together, it should be a capscrew with a square washer.

 

I don't remember the flywheel being visible by the driveshaft like yours is but I can't imagine what would be missing so maybe I'm wrong.

Ah right okay nice one. Yeah I thought it was strange that it was showing. Do you know where I could get the correct cap screw with washer?

A Peugeot or Citroen dealer should have them, the washers are p/n 222126 and the bolt is either 6913J4 or 6913D0.

Would imagine that bolt has been put in because the original has stripped the thread, can pull through when others are loose. Particularly the awkward to get at pair under the dizzy.

UPDATE: I adjusted the clutch cable and it was alright, not perfect but i managed to change gear. But what has happened was as i was pulling out of the driveway my clutch went. The clutch pedal went straight to the floor and now stays there. So the pedal is far back against the wall. I looked at the cable and it seemed to have moved out of place where the threded screw is for adjustment? I moved it back but if I touch the clutch it goes out of place again.

I think the clutch may have gone. Before i lift my car up and replace the clutch could it possibly be anything else? I can get some pictures uploaded tomorrow for better clarification.
