Type-R 3 Posted April 2, 2017 Does anyone do new grilles to mount where the foglights are on GTIs? Apart from Rallyes which models had them? It seems to be random. Is the black thing one sees on the sills of convertible 205s a reinforcement or cosmetic? And can it be removed and fitted on hatches or is it integrated? It looks really neat tbh. Tried linking to imgur but it didn't work hopefully you see what I'm going on about.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted April 3, 2017 Those grills that fit where the driving lights go are like hens teeth and quite valuable it seems and the sills are all one piece and really thick and beefy for reinforcement.
Type-R 3 Posted April 3, 2017 From the little I know the grilles seem to be more common on continental examples. Do you (or anyone else) have a picture of the sills from underneath? I think at least from an asethetic POV it looks great in black instead of the usual seams.
welshpug 1,657 Posted April 3, 2017 they're from the Rallye model only, so yes they would be more common in Europe and Scandinavia. the sills are just much more substantial on a cti/cj, all painted black to make them not look as different to the hatchback. Type-R 3 Posted April 3, 2017 I've noticed the grilles are also fitted to non sports models, and sometimes GTI style "fog lamp" bumpers too. Though usually with a silver insert strip. Do you know if it was some kind of factory option?
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted April 3, 2017 Are you after the grilles specifically or some brake ducts that fit? Revotec do some ducts for the 205.
