Oil Pressure Switch Design

Recommended Posts

Bakes100

Hi,

Simple question, I've got two oil pressure switches...

One is normally open when tested - no circuit through sensor when car is switched off.

The other one is normally closed - provides a circuit through sensor when the car is switched off.

Does anyone know which is the correct one for a 1990 1.9 GTi?

Thanks

Stuart

normally closed with no pressure is standard, i.e if there is continuity there's no oil pressure, pressure set to 1 bar.

pressure set to 1 bar.

Are the OE ones that high? Most of the pattern replacements are around the 0.5-0.6 bar mark.

Thanks all sorted now. The one ive brought is 0.5 bar (+/- 0.08) which appears pretty typical
