Recommended Posts

christopher

I've bought a AGM battery for my 405. Its supposed to be in a caravan.

I'm, just wondering if this is alright in a car?

Thoughts on this please chaps?

Suggest you google the difference between a car battery and a leisure battery ... Car batteries are designed for very high current for a few seconds, leisure batteries are designed for low current for hours.

I have a yellow top in my 205 which is now 10 years old. I guess it will die one day.

yeah they really dont like running on engines, they soon flatten and dont recover anywhere like a normal car battery.

26.7kg ! Duck me that's heavy.

Quotes 900A starting current and asks for your car reg to find the right one but is described as a leisure battery ... Seems odd to me.

Like I said earlier, the Yellow Top AGM I have in my race car is now 10 years old. How many batteries last that long? One of the best batteries money can buy. It's a D51R and is 11.8Kg. Would I buy another? Probably not. Next will be lithium, weighing in at 1.7Kg.

"The Optima D51R is a 12V 450CCA, 41Ah (Amp-Hour) Dual purpose battery (Starting & Deep Cycle). The D51R Optima spiral cell design with the plates wound tightly around a central core gives exceptional vibration resistance (15 times more than most batteries)"

I do think yours is a tad over rated for the job, but it will last a long time.

Be aware on lithium ones though. I left my damn expensive 24cell Liion battery with the stereo on! Bummer.

Battery costed about 400£ or so and never really got to use it. If the voltage drops below 10v or something like that the battery will get permanently destroyed.

Costy experience. I bought a 20Ah motorcycle GEL battery this time for the 405 T16, works fine but of course can't use much power without engine running before it is drained.

But it starts the engine just fine.

I've got a gel battery.

About to go lithium (forgot number of it). Silly light and ideal for my track car.
