Peugeot 205 1.6 Auto - 91

Recommended Posts

Jogon

I have a fair few 205's sitting on my drive just now (no GTI's just now) one of them is a 1.6 Auto which turns over but won't start, checked the fuel, fuel pump, plugs/distributor etc and all appear to be functioning.

Last stop is the crank sensor, I've purchased a replacement but I can't actually find the sensor, anyone have a clue as to where it may be? I've tried the obvious places.

Good point, Mei,. Suspect auto choke then if it's not been binned yet. Off with the air filter, open the choke butterfly by hand and either pour a few mm of fuel directly into car or spray in some easy start.. cross fingers and attempt a start

It was indeed the choke butterfly and thanks for the pointer, much appreciated.

It's sticking a little, started straight off, but as soon as i closed the butterfly it stopped, or when applying the foot to the pedal, gave it

a few mins and it started ticking over on it's own with air-filter back on and it's at least starting now (and over running when switched off) but

this particular vehicle has been on Sorn for 8 years (although started up and driven around a yard every few weeks)

It's been so long since I've tinkered with a petrol 205 I've forgotten about carbs and how to sort the autochoke mind.
