Thanks for your response, my car is 30 years old. Exact, my mechanic said that he has to grind inside the gearbox but was not enough because he also made a hole :) So it's possible to put in a BE3 gearbox on a 205 GTI 1.9, but we have to grind in some points of gearbox and not only in one point?

To put a PTS plate LSD inside a 205 GTI gearbox you have to grind inside the bellhousing and also the diff cover. The manual even tells you to be carful not to make a hole.

Weirdly I’ve just bought a gearbox with a Val Racing Lsd fitted. It’s a 205 be3 casing and has indeed had the casing relieved inside in the same place you do for a plated Lsd.

trick is to grind a small bit at a time and keep trying the diff back in.

Gohn

bought a Blackline LSD (preferred it over the Quaiffe)

also got one of those Val Racing LSD's for my other 205

not bolted in yet so can't confirm it'll 'defo' fit

but

looks fine and same as the other brand I've already installed

and no, doesn't look like there'll be any need for 'fettling'

paid by paypal, good price, no jacking of cards or suchlike

took about 4 months shipping though the seller was true to his word, it got here

also, there was a second hand quaiffe on fleebay the other day

went for £420

torsen diffs are great, they should be mandatory

mines a BE3/5 but they fit in BE3/4 because the diff housing is the same
