I was wondering what other people keep in there garage. The wife thinks I am a bit odd......

Cylinder head stripped (I ave the cam shaft bit it doesn't look in great condition put the bully is ok)

various bolts and bit

Engine mounting connection

Cambelt

Ignition coil

2 wiper stalks

2 injection rails

set on injectors

crank shaft which has gone rusty.....annoyed about this

I probably have more stuff....

So this got me thinking is the wife right or is this totally normal?

Garage?

Nearly all my Lagonda and Riley spares are in my bedroom and ensuite dressing room. Nearest spare to my bed is the V12's original crankshaft.

205 spares are mainly in the office, with some in a spare bedroom on the top floor. Oh....spare V12 & Riley wings, running boards etc in the central loft, plus 205 seat frames. Spare Riley gearboxes and halfshaft etc in 2 rooms in the cellar. Reset original Riley springs in the entrance hall.

Garage? Oh yes....spare 205 headlining and red panel trim inserts on a shelf. Other than that, just oil, paint etc (and the V12).

The LG6 and the Riley are in the veranda....no spares in there (yet).

Your list should include what you don't have, which is a pretty short list!

I guess I've got leftovers rather than deliberate spares..!

However, do have an auxiliary belt and a few sets of tyres

More than I care to remember! I broke a few when they were really cheap! Once bought 2 running 1.6s for fifty quid!

Like others, i'd be here all day and my 205 is having a long term rest! Thing is, I cannot help myself when I see good spares up for sale. Recently bought an EW 180 lump to join the other 16v engines I have. With the BMW spares I'm slowly gathering, space is becoming scarce.

I have no real 205 spares other than a wing mirror, but I have loads of 406 V6 coupe spares in the loft.. yanno, just in case I own one again some day after selling mine 5 years ago...

I have a load of GTi6 instrument clusters, none of which have ever moved for about 10 years

I don't even know what I have anymore. Whenever I sort through my parts I always get a nice surprise by finding parts I'd forgotten I'd bought.

I'm sure I'm not the only one ;)

Most definately not!

Last surprise I had was a Mocal oil cooler, braided hoses and thermostatic sandwich plate!

You know it's a problem when you waste a lot of time and money buying a hard to find part then discover you already own two of them. That's still not as bad as knowing you have something and not being able to find it though.

specific spares? not much, got a box of oil filters and a few 5l cans of oil, there's some gear oil somewhere too. got BE clutch fork bushes and some driveshaft seals, no air filters as they're all K&N or ITG.

other than that I wouldn't call the rest "spares" specifically, couple of boxes of rear beam fasteners, bearings and shafts, various boxes of obsolete ignition parts as I don't have a standard ecu any more on either of my french cars.

Apart from a bodyshell, I have most of the components I would need to build another car, or that is what is feels like.

You know you have it.......You spend ages searching for it.......You buy one.......You open the garage door and what is the first thing you see ????? I swear 205s play practical jokes even years after they have departed.

That happens to me all the time.. ranges from small to huge things too.. not a clue where it is when I'm searching but then it'll appear in the most obvious vacant space known to man when I buy a second one. I think it's all part of a plot my wife has against me and my cars

Thank God . I thought I was the only one who managed to perform this trick. Still, if I even need some new rear bump stops to replace the new ones I have just fitted, I will have complete confidence that (a) I have a set and (B) that they are hiding in my garage somewhere( or are they in the loft?)

A friend of mine lost a tailgate for about 18 months. Then it just appeared one day, very odd.

And

I have to much to list but I have some thing like 30 wheels, a few body panel moulds, engine a spare car gear box parts etc, but in the van I have drive shafts, steering rack, dampers, track rod ends, sub axles, most electrical parts and basically everything and more that you need to run a 205 on a rally.. oh and as its a rally car and I run flimsy fibreglass wings I have a spare nearside one in the van too..
