u47sb2 27 2 Cars Posted January 4, 2017 I've owned my standard 1600 road car for 6 years now. In that time we've been all over the country on various adventures including a couple of car shows and a few road rallies. Never once has she let me down, and she's never cost me much to maintain. But I fear I'm losing interest. It's maybe just the winter blues but I have currently no motivation or want to get in and go for a drive. About the only thing stopping me from selling up is that if I do I probably won't buy another with how prices are these days. Not sure there's much of a point to this other than to verbalise what my brain is thinking.
Biggles 65 Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Time of year I'd say - my car has been on axle stands in the garage since mid Nov - not done a thing to it. Needed a break. Momentum is now gathering slowly to crack on and get it back together. As a friend once said to me when I made some comment about feeling I ought to be out using the car - you've got a sofa & central heating, you need to use that every once in a while too ... Robbiedundy 58 4 Cars Posted January 5, 2017 Starting to lose interest in my daily 205, spend more time fixing it than working on my actual project. I'll have to go rag it through the hills, I'm sure that'll stop me selling it.. ????
JamPug 22 Posted January 5, 2017 I think the weather is definitely a factor because if you go for a drive now it's cold, wet, slippery and in my case damp inside the car. But think how much better it is to get to your car on the first day of sunshine get the windows down, sunroof back and have a proper blast !
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted January 5, 2017 I understand how you feel. I have been there occasionally before. I'm lucky as the area I live there is a good bunch of fellow owners, we meet twice a month which gives a good reason to use the car and keeps me interested. steve@cornwall 100 Posted January 5, 2017 It's cold, it's wet, the days are short and you can't keep the bloody thing clean when using it. For me the interest is definitely seasonal, All activity on the cti has ground to a halt, the diesel sits forgotten in the garage and the gti, used daily on the Cornish lanes, is filthy and looks like an old nail ! But it is a good time to pick up parts for future use whilst many others also lose the urge. Wait till Spring and the spanner hand will begin to itch again.
