S16 Oil/water Heat Exchanger

Recommended Posts

Carlos16v

Went to take my 205 out yesterday and discovered a coolant leak from the oil/water heat exchanger. It's got an S16 engine fitted and I assume it's the original part, but I'm struggling to find a replacement part which has the same 90 degree bend on the inlet/outlet pipes. Can anyone confirm if a part from other models would fit?

Thanks

yes they had one as original equipment, one from a gti6 engine would do the trick.

for the time being you can remove the pipes and bung them.

Just remove it as it's more pipes etc that can leak

Annoyingly I've just had put in a new rad and replaced some of the pipes/connections but this wasn't leaking at that point. It would certainly tidy things up if I could remove completely but the oil already seems to take ages to warm up, would removing not mean it would take even longer?

yes, in my experience its much better to retain them on a road or rally car, the standard 1.9 arrangement with the air-oil coolers take so long to warm up.

if we all took the take stuff off attitude we'd all be running aircooled carb engines still

Thanks both. Got a 2nd hand unit from a GTi6 coming so will keep it on there for now :)
