Wheel Width

Hi

 

I use my 205 only for Hill climbing and am looking at changing the wheels for next season. I have been using 13" XR2 pepper pots for a couple of years which I believe are 5.5" wide and am looking at jumping up to maybe 7" or 8" in width.

 

I just wondered what people's though a were and if 8" would be too wide?? Obviously I would have to get the offsets rights etc.

 

It also seems at 8" that there are more slick tyres available second hand.

XR2 Pepperpots are 6Jx13 aren't they ?

I have just done some research and you are correct they are 6" rims.

 

Anybody have any thoughts on whether going that wide will have any detrimental effects on the handling??
