Mot And Catalytic Convertor On 1992 Car.

That appears to be the earlier non-CAT Jetronic management - is that part number on the AFM ending 109 as well, which would correspond if so?

What does the tag on the engine block above the alternator say - D6B, DFZ or DKZ?

what does the VIN say?

if its got the reg of a "jap import" then its either not what its meant to be or its had a LOT of parts changed.

AFM also ends in 109.

There is no tag on the engine block.

The VRM finishes BKV which is for the Japanese exports.

The full VIN is VF3 20 CDF4 24288565.

so it looks like you have a full 128 bhp Pre cat engine ignition and injection system installed at some point in its life, the system has no mixture self correction facility so the cat is pointless as it'll never be in the correct operating range.

what you need to do is get a Phase2 downpipe/centre box, tell the MOT guy it has an older engine, whilst he's got the probe up the exhaust tweak the mixture on the afm down to 1.5% or thereabouts, it'll pass at anything up to 3.5%

oh and there is one other way to get it through a test, "engine type unknown" which given the i.d tag is missing is a legitimate method of testing for emissions.

That's a surprise, it was definitely worth checking!

When was it last MOT'd?
