Xud7T Lucas Injector Pump Query

Hi all.

 

This is my first post but I have been browsing this site for a long time and always found an answer to my questions but not this time.

 

So can anyone tell me what the electrical device on the lucas injector pump (Turbo diesel with Lucas pump) is, not the stop solenoid but at the end of the cold start cable.

My car refused to start from cold yesterday, cranked fine, glow plugs working well but no start. The stop solenoid is getting battery voltage, and the primer is firm. Then strangely an hour later it fired up perfectly normally.

 

Also on occasions I don't get a full complement of dash warning lights when I switch on to start. Could this be related. I didn't notice yesterday when it would not start.
