Rolando 10 Posted December 10, 2016 Hello all, I'm planning on getting a set of Wilwood 4 pots as on the 306 forum they are doing a group buy for the brackets. The only thing i'm concerned with is that they'll only fit with 10mm spacers. I'm already running the 309 set up so would an extra 10mm on each wheel help or affect handling? I'm planning on changing the hubs for 306 hubs as I haven't got adjustable top mounts yet. Any help would be great. Thanks Ro
welshpug 1,658 Posted December 10, 2016 depends on the wheels you want to use, no doubt they'll stick out and hit the arches on compression. why would you want 306 hubs?
calvinhorse 870 Posted December 10, 2016 For zero camber yo!
Rolando 10 Posted December 10, 2016 I want to use standard 1.9 wheels. I've currently got gti6 brakes but the weights on the inside keep hitting the caliper and coming off. I was thinking about going for smaller brakes like on the HDI's but I don't fancy using them on a S/C car. But then I came across the wilwood 4 pots which use standard gti6 discs which I thought would be a bonus but like you've said they would hit the arch under compression i'm thinking. 306 hubs are something to do with the camber...apparently it's not as easy as just banging on a set of 309 wishbones and shafts so i'm told. They won't be needed when I have adjustable top mounts mind
welshpug 1,658 Posted December 10, 2016 306 hubs will lose all the camber you gain with the 309 arms, AND MORE. and make the top of the wheel stick out even further, don't do it.
welshpug 1,658 Posted December 10, 2016 the weights on the inside keep hitting the caliper and coming off top tip. stop putting the weights there, they wont come off then.
petert 588 Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) If they only fit with 10mm spacers perhaps someone hasn't designed the brackets correctly? What model Wilwoods? The only way I can get them to fit is to use Willwood Ford bells and 22mm rotors. Edited December 11, 2016 by petert
dcc 855 Posted December 11, 2016 £1200 will get you ap4 pots that fit under 14's

I was told by sandy brown that I should use 306 hubs as i'm still using standard top mounts as a pose to adjustable ones. Only going by what he said other wise I wouldn't have mentioned it? The only way I can get them to fit is to use Willwood Ford bells and 22mm rotors. It's someone off the 306 gti6 forum. Phil m? He's designed the brackets so you can use the Wilwood midlite calipers with standard gti6 discs and still keep the original 306 cyclone wheel using a 10mm spacer. So maybe with the 1.9 wheel you'd get away with out the spacer but I doubt it..
welshpug 1,658 Posted December 14, 2016 (edited) no you wont. rally design kit goes under a 205 speedline without spacers by the way, damn close, but they do. Edited December 14, 2016 by welshpug
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 14, 2016 I've seen people grind the edge of the Wilwoods before, not ideal but seems to work.
petert 588 Posted December 14, 2016 I tried to make it work with GTi6 rotors too, but the offset is just wrong and I hate spacers.
Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted December 15, 2016 I've seen people grind the edge of the Wilwoods before, not ideal but seems to work. Quite sure that's what I did to my older style Dynalites. It's only a nat's cock that needs to be removed. I tried to make it work with GTi6 rotors too, but the offset is just wrong and I hate spacers. That does not make good reading, as I was planning on getting my friendly machinist to knock up brackets for the more commonly available & cheaper GTi6 disc! welshpug 1,658 Posted December 15, 2016 no need to do that Alan, just go on the 306 forum and buy some!
And 15 1 Cars Posted December 15, 2016 Wasn't there some brackets on hear for sale that were purchased on the 306 forum the other day?
petert 588 Posted December 16, 2016 Here's a possible solution. Use something like a GT 36 11.75" x 0.81" (8 x 7.00" bolt circle) rotor along with a Ford Fiesta shallow (1.18") hat. You can face the hat back on a lathe to create what ever offset distance you want. The 0.6" hat is too narrow. http://wilwood.com/Rotors/RotorProd.aspx?itemno=160-12285 http://wilwood.com/Hats/HatProd.aspx?itemno=170-11903
