Cant Open My Petrol Cap, Suggestions To Break It Up?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys!

My current 205 GTi project really causes some head scratching at the moment. Im at the moment doing a full strip of the shell, but im stock at one point.

My keys works in doors, ignition lock and glove compartment but i cant open the petrol cap. I've tried everything possible way of trying to opening it with the key, but i wont help.

Im convinced that i doesn't have the right key, but i cant tell, be cause i bought the car a few years back and drowe it home and put it in the garage (at the time, it was a "future" project, which i've now started on)

So, everything is out of the car, including the gas tank, so my question is:

How do it open a locked gas cap, with the least damage as possible?

Thank you in advance

I think the issue may be if you drill the lock out you risk debris falling into the filler neck, possibly a locksmith? Hopefully someone may suggest a non cost option good luck

Stick a big flat screwdriver in it . That's how I've done it before

You're overthinking Gaz ;)......

.....any debris getting in to the filler neck could just be blown out afterwards, or indeed the neck removed and just washed out.
