Cti Boot Lid External Trim Panel Removal

Recommended Posts

lagonda

Due to someone (not me!) slamming the boot lid down, the O/S half is now flapping free, and the central fixing pin above the lock is broken. So it's now held on just by the fixings on the N/S.

I can see that the O/S fixing is two pins fixed to the boot lid which engage with slots in the plastic.

Logic dictates that the N/S fixing is identical.....is that it? I can lift the panel away from the lock and waggle the O/S up and down....but no amount of downward-pulling will release the N/S.

So...should I be looking for some other fixing (maybe the 205 badge?), or do I just need to pull harder?

Also....is this plastic panel easily available...is it the same as that fitted to GTis?

Remove the badge, behind there should be a metal clip that slides onto the rivet on the boot lid to hold the slatted panel on.

Probably find the clips have rusted away on the loose side. Iirc the plastic panel is curled around the edge of the bootlid too and slides upward to fit ?

Thanks all.

Yes, Steve, there is a lip that curls round.....largely shattered away on mine, though.

How do I remove the badge to get to the clips...is it just a press fit?!

They're stuck down with foam tape, or were originally.

If you've strong fingernails you can usually pull them off, otherwise a plastic trim tool is ideal, failing that a screwdriver with some tape wrapped round so you don't mark the trim.
