Plug Lead Layout

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to diagnose my engine rocking so just to go back to basics I am checking the distributer leads and firing order - can anyone post me a diagram of where the leads should go from the plugs to the distributer please as I can't find anything easy to use online. - pics with numbers would be great!

I'd be replacing all of your engine mounts if the engine is shaking about...

hi - just replaced the bottom and rear mount as well as the top right mount - I should have rephrased shake to movement when I engage the gears and shake just when startin - while running along it seems ok except when I change gear and there is a jolt. I have had me driveshaft replaced on the passenger side - new drop links and also new suspention. Could an incorrect inner ball joint also be a problem as I heard somewhere the following:

"incorrect lengths of inner ball joints and also spring in the inner ball joint that may be broken"

If you say it happens when you start it then I doubt it'll be a ball joint. But, what do you mean by inner ball joint..?

Does it vibrate under power..? I had this in my old Saab and it was the inner CV joint.

If it clunks when starting / changing gear then I would have said mounts - might be worth you getting someone to look under the bonnet as (with your foot on the brake) you bring the clutch up to the biting point. Depress and repeat, and see if your assistant can see where the movement is.

Back to your original request, I've just popped out to the garage and snapped these - the leads are parallel and should hopefully be obvious where they terminate.

Hope it helps!

thanks for this - I can see my plug layout is ok now. It looks like it may be the new driveshaft - something is not right - I will get my mechanic to check that inner CV joint. Mounts are all new and ok, there is a click sound when you rotate the wheel forwards and backwards.
