steve@cornwall 100 Posted September 5, 2016 I've seen these advertised but have no idea how to fit them. Are they fitted with a pop riveter or do they need a special tool? If anyone has done this would be interested in your experiences as I have a very good base model door, stripped bare and primed which I may paint for my gti. If it's a bit of a faff, I'll deal with the couple of dents and distortion around the door handle on mine. I won't be self tapping the trim on!
Duroc 2 1 Cars Posted September 5, 2016 I did mine with a standard pop riveter. Worked perfectly
mrfirepro 127 1 Cars Posted September 5, 2016 I used these part of this kit Used standard rivet gun to put them in, if you don't want to take apart another door, I have a stripped down door here I can take measurements off if it helps.
steve@cornwall 100 Posted September 5, 2016 Thanks both, looks like the eBay kit is the way to go. Paul, thanks for your kind offer, I have a spare pair of cti doors I can take templates from.
welshpug 1,657 Posted September 5, 2016 (edited) if you have all the clips, then I have vague memory of a Vauxhall Calibra using the same rivet, and they may be available form someone like Wurth, Miles might recall more. OOH, found these, they look god, need to measure to make sure. http://www.bresco.com/acatalog/Moulding-Clip-Rivet.-Ford--Vauxhall-and-general-application.-BSF527P.html Edited September 5, 2016 by welshpug

GazMav 3 Posted September 6, 2016 The box of bits: 6994 44 is still available form the dealers, so might save a bit on the ebay ones.

stumpyjag 6 Posted April 3, 2019 Is that because they didn’t fit?

The door was taken out by a blind taxi driver and I fitted the replacement door in a hurry to keep the car useable. Since been replaced with a good gti door so weren't needed in the end.
