Doof 11 Posted August 31, 2016 Hi all. Not posted on here for years but hope everyone's well. Wondering if anyone in the north can help. I'm driving from Stirling to Nottingham tomorrow and the wife and kids aren't with me so I want to take the scenic route. Anyone know any good roads in the Northumberland/ Yorkshire areas that I could try instead of the motorways? Lewis
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted September 1, 2016 You could always take the A68 down from Edinburgh and go from there ?
Doof 11 Posted September 1, 2016 Yea looking like one of those will be the best. Just ideally don't want a road littered with cameras and don't know what those are like. Let's give it a go.
Hheppy 9 1 Cars Posted September 1, 2016 get yourself on to the B6277 from Middleton in Teesdale to Alston, it is part of the route used on the Yorkshire Driving weekend and is a 20 mile stretch of fabulous road south of that you can look to drive from Richmond, Reeth, Hawes, Masham, Ripon. hope you get to check some of them out! GLPoomobile 958 Posted September 1, 2016 A68 is a good shout. Just be careful though. There's a section I like to think of as being like a roller coaster, numerous small hills and dips in quick succession. I met a sheep in the middle of the road just over the brow of one of the hills, so hidden from view. It was lucky that on that occasion I was doing a moderate speed as it could have been messy otherwise.
