Reliable Race Clutch Pressure Plate Required - Any Ideas?

Just for reference. I sold a Helix release bearing to a customer and it was a Valeo item. It seems that Helix do not sell uprated release bearings, just uprated in price.

My customer gave it back and ordered his valeo for £40 instead of £120.

 

 

ouch, I'd still cringe at £40 for a valeo release bearing..

Clutch has been very good - no issues having now done a couple of track days and 2 races.

 

Seemed to suffer from a bit of clutch drag on the first & second track day we did with it - causing the occasional crunching gear change, but after the first race at Donington this went away, so I think it was just a case of the plates bedding in.

 

It has become more progressive now it's bedded in, but is still a nightmare to use on the road in traffic (something I get a lot of living in South London!) so really is a track only option.

 

I moved the cable pull point on the clutch pedal (about 10mm further towards pivot point - so not as far as the one shown in the picture in the previous pic), and fitted a pedal stop to the bulkhead. This gives more pedal travel (now close to a standard clutch), and more progressive engagement from standstill.

 

As I said in an earlier post, the pedal is really light, and I think you could get away with the 240daN clutch cover and a single plate clutch (note as the single plate clutch cover is thinner, you'd need to run a spacer behind the release bearing otherwise the clutch arm would run out of travel).

 

Sadly a couple of weeks ago my team mate ended our day early at Snetterton due to yet another miss-shift (this time 5th - 2nd) :angry: . Think the clutch is fine, but the engine is a different story - very difficult to turn over. So the car is currently down with Miles getting diagnosed... Could be an expensive and early end to our season :(.
