mat1227 1 Posted August 19, 2016 What 185/60 r14 tyres do people recommend these days? I know there's plenty of discussion on 15s, but I have a set of pepperpots on my 1.6 and want to keep it original. I couldn't find any recent threads on peoples experiences and found most of the usual suspects (GSD etc) seem to be unavailable in the smaller size. Anthony 1,003 Posted August 19, 2016 I've not actually run either of these on a 205 in that size, but looking through what's available on Camskill in 185/60R14 I think I'd be leaning towards... Dunlop BluResponse Sport @ £37 Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance @ £40 I run the Dunlops on my 306 and they're very good both wet and dry, although the sidewalls do seem a little soft so unlikely to work well on track if that's a consideration. They were certainly significantly better than the Falken 912's that I ran before which I had always found worked well on 205's, subject to the usual difficulty fairly comparing old worn tyres to new tyres of course. Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted August 19, 2016 Only 2 tyres in the size with A rated wet grip, which are Continentals and the Goodyears. The Goodyears are slightly cheaper by a couple of quid. I run them on my green 205 and am pleased with them. Just be careful as there are a few "efficient Grip" tyres in the Goodyear line up, you want the "Efficient Grip Performance" not the "Efficient Grip" or "Efficient Grip Compact". welshpug 1,657 Posted August 19, 2016 you can get michelin energy in that size still, B rated for wet weather, a friend does have them on his 1.6 and whilst they may not have the grip of a pilot sport they do work well on a 205. probably more grippy than what michelin was making 30 years ago as a sporty tyre.
