Gearbox Fill Bolt Rounded

Recommended Posts

Bobbafett

Last time I did the gearbox fill bolt up I must have done it up way too tight because now it won't budge.

I have tried everything. Cold chisels, grinding the head, it's even rounding with a hammered on 18mm socket now.

What are my options now????

And anyone know where I can get a new bolt from?

Seriously i've been trying to undo this for about 2 hours. Hammers won't work anymore because it's just round and nothing will grip it.

Hit head of bolt face on a couple of times, then get chisel edge onto the corner of the slot you've cut and hit it so it's trying to turn bolt anticlockwise (shallow angle of attack)

Then swear and hit finger!! (or is that just my chosen route lol)

And

Also try heating it with a hot air gun, you could poss weld a nut on ot it or a bolt the heat of the weld would release it but it mite end with a Big Bang,

Miles

Face fitting socket would have had that off, if you need oil in it fill up via breather on top

petert

Drill a hole, then bash a slightly bigger torx bit into it. I'd also use some heat.

If it doesnt leak just leave it and fill through breather on top
