Recommended Posts

lloyd1986

Just a quick question where and what make beam rebuild kits are people using I know ebay have alot of cheap micky mouse kits and stubs but dont fancy rebuilding it again in 6 months.

I used a genuine peugeot set on my last 205 but cant seem to find one now.

I've used the SNR kits from Poland on eBay. The shafts were in french boxes and all the cups and seals seemed exactly the same as Peugeot items. You can get a pair of kits for £80 ish, which I'm pretty sure would last longer than your estimated 6 months...

ive used several of the kits from the Polish supplier mentioned, bought via ebay, reasonable postage especially for multiple orders.

no issues with longevity.

I've used the Polish kits a fair few times and generally they're fine, although I have had one where the bearings must have been out of tolerance as there was slight play in it... swapped the bearings for a pair of OE ones and it was fine so presumably the shaft was OK.

Not personally had any issues with longevity but a couple of friends have had beams fail earlier than you'd expect. That said, I've seen the same happen with OE bits as well.

Polish eBay stuff on mine-I've bought bearing kits in the past from motor factors and I didn't notice any difference

For the money you can't go wrong-you can spend£30 on bearings but if shaft is wearing its false economy

When I had shafts out I tapped holes for grease nipples (between inner/outer bearings) don't think it makes any difference but when you've given it a couple of squirts of grease once in a while you feel as though you've given the car a "treat"

I use the frauto website direct, just change the language and currency and go to rear suspension parts. Prices are good at the moment due to the exchange rate...

I don't think anyone can really comment on non genuine kits due to timescale they have been about.

Would be nice to think that higher quality pattern kits will have same lifespan as genuine

so far so good, I used my first polish supplied kit some years ago.

had it apart after 3 years and it looked fine, can't remember where it went since then!
