Oil Filler And Crankcase Ventilation

Recommended Posts

Andy

Morning,

There may be advice on this topic elsewhere on the forum, in which suitable direction much appreciated. Anyway, the question is about pipe work for the 1.9 8v engine that is running throttle bodies and an Emerald. Clearly all standard induction system has gone, so suggestions please as to the best way to plumb both the oil filler and crankcase ventilation .

Thank you

Andy

Mine uses an old power steering reservoir as a breather;

Oil filler cap small bore outlet into top of breather.

Oil filler two large bore outlets looped off.

Breather drains back to crankcase inlet to left of filler inlet (as direct as possible).

Cam cover vent to standard inlet at base of filler hose.

Need to extend my filler piping as it's currently canted onto its side underneath the carbs. Oh, and I binned the wire mesh in the breather as it was proper clogged.

Hope this helps!

Yes it does thank you. What I wanted to know, and you have answered, centred on some sort of catch tank arrangement. Neat idea using a power steering tank as it has a small bore Inlet ( which was the return) and a large bore return to the sump( which was the feed to the pump). The other issue is the oil filler arrangement. The bodies get in the way of the standard set-up

Ah, should have said - the small bore inlet is now the breather filtered outlet.

The inlet is drilled into the side, with the return-to-sump being the main feed outlet.

You can see the filter here, and make out the pipe coming from the left into the neck area.
