Cracked Top Of Block

Recommended Posts

IMG_6605.JPGI have what looks like some hairline cracks in the top of the head bolt hole.

What are your thoughts on this.

Will I get away with this?

Looks to me to have been vause by the head clamping down too much on that point, so something such as the cylinder liner protrusion being too little, or dirt under gasket surfaces, a head which isnt flat, the blocks are cast alloy so dont really have a great deal of strength in tension so it may have been a dirty thread binding and pulled up the thread. I am not honestly sure if the headbolt uses those threads when it is torqued up.

Personally id use it if the rest of the block is good, I would get the whole block face resurfaved and the liner protrusion measured with new seals, then a fresh flat skimmed head
