Gti6 Oem Exhaust?

Recommended Posts

commievid

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this has ever been asked given it's a little against the run, but I'm pondering a quieter, if not standard exhaust option.

I know the exhaust back box is Magnex, would assume it's the case for the rest of the exhaust, with a Miles reangled manifold.

How much fettling would be required if other options were used? Would it be a straight swap for say a completely standard 205 exhaust, or does some further welding and cutting become necessary?

To be honest, the exhaust once inside isn't too terrible, given the rest of the car is vibrating itself with aplomb, but outside the car does sound a little...anti-social?

If it's a straight swap, then that would be mega convenient, would want a nice quick job if possible!

The downpipe needs cutting and welding for a GTi-6 conversion, so if whatever you're changing involves that part (ie the front half of a Phase 2 system) then it'll need modification.

I will have with me at Pugfest my 205 OE replacement exhaust system, these are maybe quieter than a std mild steel system even in stainless, the 2 1/4" system is a fair bit louder but allows future power upgrades etc

What price are these Miles?

I've got a standard (I think Walker) system on my GTI6 conversion and it sounds a bit farty. Wanted something, at least a back box, to improve it

Prices still to be looked into at the moment

So if the manifold from the GTI6 has already been re-angled, the downpipe still needs doing?

I believe the standard one would be sufficient power wise for the GTI6 engine? I guess if depending on price, even if the stainless was still quieter than OEM, then that sounds like a potential winner.
