Set Up Issue

Having run car for bit i feel its a bit down on power so removed plugs and it looks to be running rich i have not had the ignition timing checked yet but the readings i got at mot was CO 0.43 and HC 53 take it afm needs adjusting does winding screw in lean it off?.

On another note was following a guide on here screwed the screw all way in on afm then turned back out 7 times now its jammed and wont turn?

Has anyone ever removed screw totally just wondering if its anything special as may just drill out and make a new one.

Its just a fancy brass screw with an 'O' ring to stop air leaking round it . If you screw it all the way in it will bottom out , if you screw it all the way out it will keep coming till the thread disengages and the 'O' ring will hold it in position but it can be lifted up so it and the airway can be cleaned . If yours has jammed solid you probably wound it out then cross threaded it when screwing it back in , drilling it out would be a nightmare , get a big screwdriver on it and some penetrating oil and try to get it moving .

Adjustment screw on AFM only really impacts idle mixture, not mixture under load. At 0.43% CO it is slightly lean if anything, but not so much that I'd worry if it starts and idles OK

Fixed afm and had a little play with ignition timing car pulls so much better so will do a better set up with light gun a probe up exhaust.
