Gman 29 Posted June 13, 2016 Evens is still trying to impersonate Clarkson, quite why I do not know as he implicit that he would put his spin on the show. Harris was his usual self - knowledgeable, geeky and quite odd. I like Harris. MLB - I thought he was a terrible choice and would spoil any chance of the show doing well. I will eat my humble pie - his dead pan persona is great and serves to knock Evans down a peg or two. He is clearly a true petrolhead and isn't too shabby behind the wheel. What I find stupid is the fancy drift shots, when it's clear Evans nor Rory Reid aren't doing the driving. I have enjoyed extra gear too as it appeals to the geekier side of our motor interests. However, RR and CH simply clash and CH needs to be moved into a permanent position on the main show.
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted June 13, 2016 Best episode yet. I forward through siarpc as its s*it. I read somewhere that it's a 15 minute filler so that countries where TG is sold with adverts can cut it out. I've been following CH since he wrote for Autocar, a proper journalist -owns a 205xs too! welshpug 1,657 Posted June 13, 2016 and a Rallye now, a proper one. oh and an Ax iirc, as well as a very early 2cv
AlexRS2782 136 1 Cars Posted June 13, 2016 Quite enjoyed last nights as well - I noticed there was a really nice looking original classic Fiat 500 in the background, when CH went off to do his bit with the Merc around the track. Wonder whether that's related to an upcoming feature or just one of the audience / presenters / production own car - very nice.
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted June 13, 2016 as well as a very early 2cv Yep a year older than my dads one
base-1 17 Posted June 14, 2016 Definitely the best episode so far. I even watched the celebrity bit and quite enjoyed it because of Kevin Hart and Chris Evans not knowing how to deal with him. Harris' Ferrari bit was excellent, more of that required for sure. Le Blanc continues to impress, I enjoyed the bit in Block's Mustang because of his part. Still don't like Evans or Rory Reid, but at least i can see the point in having someone like Reid on if it will help millennials get into cars. I forward through siarpc as its s*it. I read somewhere that it's a 15 minute filler so that countries where TG is sold with adverts can cut it out. Sounds very plausible - I watched an episode of old-new Top Gear on Netflix at the weekend, it was only 49 minutes long and had no interview so they must get it from BBC America or something? ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted July 4, 2016 (edited) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36701712 Ratings nothing to do with Euro 2016. Its because its Boring. Edited July 4, 2016 by ALEX
Ams 23 1 Cars Posted July 4, 2016 I was never a big fan of the last trio and Top Gear in general to be honest, I'm best described as a neutral viewer of the format. What I did like was the shooting style of vehicles covered and simply watched select cuts on youtube. The new series continues this aspect so I'm happy enough with that. As far as presenters are concerned..well my summary after finally bothering to watch 5 episodes over the weekend is as follows: Chris Evans manner and interactions with other presenters makes him hard to like. Sabine Schmidtz makes me cringe due to laughing way too much at the end of every sentence (HAR!HAR!HAR!HAR!HAR!HARHARHARARARARA..christ!) Rory Reids accent and scripted, predictable delivery is painful for me to listen to. Matt Le Blanc and Chris Harris are great. I'm neutral on Eddie Jordan. I had a quick google before this post regarding Chris Evans and it appears he is very much disliked by the other presenters due to being a control freak on set and generally is unnecessarily rude/unpleasant/arrogant to everyone, including the audience http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/top-gear-matt-leblanc-vows-to-quit-unless-chris-evans-is-sacked-rory-reid-eddie-jordan-labour-crisis-a7105186.html http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/top-gear-chris-evans-swore-at-audience-episode-1-matt-leblanc-bbc-a7041921.html Oh well...looks like he might get the boot anyway due to a Police investigation: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/jul/04/bbc-chris-evans-police-questioning-radio-2-sex-assault-allegations
Anthony 1,003 Posted July 4, 2016 Chris Evans has just quit the show, jumping before he was pushed presumably.
dcc 855 Posted July 4, 2016 He had a chance to reinvent the programme, yet tried to follow the clarkson format. It really was a good programme just badly executed and very awkward at times. I watched 30mims from lastnight and found it refreshing from the start of the series.
welshpug 1,657 Posted July 4, 2016 I think that was the last of this series anyway?
toolie72 67 1 Cars Posted July 4, 2016 Heard the rumours about Evans, jes@s, I consider myself to be bloody good at being a pervert ie driving with shades on, (especially on sunny days!!) but yet another presenter/broadcaster in the pooh?!?! Who's worse? JC for slapping a producer or CE for the allegations-still on radio2-for how long Still max is probably lonely And these are the people who's opinions are being vented to the public all the time
calvinhorse 870 Posted July 4, 2016 Chris Evans has just quit the show, jumping before he was pushed presumably. I read today that he's also being questioned over a string of sex offences... Mainly flashing people in the office! I can't imagine his genitals are any more offensive than his face
