GLPoomobile 958 Posted May 30, 2016 .....is that because everyone who watched it just thought "meh"?
dobboy 231 2 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 Yeah, garbage. Didn't even watch it all, it was too painful. And just realised as it's BBC we are paying for it's production.
sp_en_ny 17 1 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 See the last 10 mins, not impressed. Felt it was very cringey and amateurish. Still early days and can't get worse......
steve@cornwall 100 Posted May 30, 2016 Didn't bother. Having for a long time anyway and the thought of Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc certainly didn't entice me now.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 We don't mention catering on here anymore lol wonder if chris thought that up and the bbc approved it on purpose as a last up yours to jeremy. Agree with comments so far i turned it off after 6/7 minutes....its gash
welshpug 1,657 Posted May 30, 2016 funny all the negative comments have only given it a brief few minutes, not a proper watch...
camgti 56 Posted May 30, 2016 Its also worth mentioning that Top Gear took a long time to get off the ground and for the original 3 to gel. It did not happen over night.
Mongoose 0 2 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 I'm torn here. It's never been a must-watch programme for me but I've certainly enjoyed plenty of it over the past few years. As far as I can see Clarkson (who, I'll admit, does make me laugh) and May were talented journalists first; the on-screen personas came later and happily gelled well together. While I like Chris Evans generally, I think he only has one style and it isn't necessarily well suited to Top Gear. When the other three wanted to turn it on they were capable of making really good serious bits too - I'm thinking of the Senna tribute, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage/Brian Eno thing and others. I thought Matt Le Blanc's film was okay. Some (okay, most) of the studio stuff was a cringefest. The whole "Star In A Whatever" thing has always been, in my opinion, crap and I'm sorry to see it back. Sabine Schmidt (sp), great driver for sure, but a TV presenter she isn't. I didn't watch the Chris Harris extra bit because I think his presenting style is dismal. He's a good writer and should maybe stick to that. So I don't know; it was their first one and I'm prepared to cut them some slack but they are going to have to seriously up their game to keep me watching. Sadly, I think the constraints that will be placed on them by the management will severely hamper the comedy. Some of the things Clarkson et al said and did genuinely made me laugh but the irreverence is gone now - it ain't coming back. I'll watch it again but I'm not expecting much. I hope I'mm wrong. ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 Wasn't impressed. Not a fan of Chris Evans either. Matt did okay I reckon but the relationship seemed forced. It might improve in time but I don't think I'll be going out of my way to catch it on TV like I did with the old cast.
Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 As soon as I heard the start, with Chris Evans trying to impersonate Clarkson voiceover on the starting credits, my expectations dropped. I had hoped that it would be a fresh start with the new presenters, yet it appears that they're attempting to replicate the previous incarnation with new presenters that look 'forced' together. I didn't see the point of the Reliant Robin bit, although LeBlanc was funny here and there. The Viper piece could've been more interesting if they'd concentrated on the car rather than try and laser-tag each other. After this, I kinda lost interest. So yeah....Meh. Roll on August for The Grand Tour on Amazon.
allye 530 3 Cars Posted May 30, 2016 Watched all of it, properly horrendous. The editing on the viper/Z06 bit was just stupid. I'll keep watching out of curiosity but as we all expected it was the 3 of them which made top gear great.
Anulfo 22 Posted May 30, 2016 Could always bring back William woollard, Chris Geoffrey + the lady.....what was her name???
GLPoomobile 958 Posted May 30, 2016 Could always bring back William woollard, Chris Geoffrey + the lady.....what was her name??? Goffey, not Geoffrey Can't remember the posh bint's name though. Plus Steve Berry, now there was a marmite guy to wind up the masses (that accent!), personally I always liked him.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) funny all the negative comments have only given it a brief few minutes, not a proper watch... I gave it more than a few minutes. My attention wained about 15 mins in and I kept it on, but just had it on in the background while I did other stuff. I was still aware enough of what was happening to know there was no great loss to me that I wasn't giving it my full attention. GLPoomobile 958 Posted May 30, 2016 I think the biggest problem with the show is that it's not 'new' Topgear, nothing has really changed except the presenters. To me this proves what a lot of people (myself included) have said for a long long time - the format is now completely stale, and the writing is terrible. Having new presenters hasn't improved that shortcoming. As light entertainment it no longer entertains me, as a car program it doesn't offer me much. Other observations: Chris Evans surprisingly didn't annoy me. I didn't particularly enjoy his presenting either. Matt LeBlanc was awful No chemistry CE seemed at times like he was imitating Clarkson's style Didn't understand the point of the Reliant Realto feature, especially considering that when Clarkson did the Robin version years ago it was one of the funniest things they did in all the years. Only thing I liked was the addition of the dirt sections on the track for the 'Star in a ' feature If by some miracle TG does improve and become watchable, can somebody do us a favour and let us all know please? As I probably won't waste my time on it otherwise.
calvinhorse 870 Posted May 31, 2016 I think someone left Chris Evans autocue on Capslock, he just shouted constantly! And he is possibly the most hideous creature on the planet.
Pugleyrich 37 1 Cars Posted May 31, 2016 I watched it all. Probably won't watch the next episode. Matt was okay but it didn't seem as well written as before. Questions/voting before the start in rallycross car was a bit pointless. I lost interest quite quickly. I don't usually mind Chris Evans but he really irritated me on Top Gear. It was basically TFI Friday with some boring car related segments.
tagy 1 Posted May 31, 2016 I preferred Extra Gear on iPlayer, they seemed more natural and really had an interest in cars.
steve@cornwall 100 Posted May 31, 2016 Could always bring back William woollard, Chris Geoffrey + the lady.....what was her name??? You mean Vicky Butler-Henderson? How about Tony Mason ?Especially in a works mini Cooper. Showing my age I think
2-Pugs 57 Posted May 31, 2016 Michelle - something iirc. But yes, VBH. What ever happened to her!?
johniban 59 1 Cars Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) I didn't mind it to be fair, as most of the original top gear was starting to get annoyingly made up for 'entertainment purposes' its nice to see a fresh program Edited May 31, 2016 by johniban

calvinhorse 870 Posted June 1, 2016 I liked the $3000 turbo challenge, and too sexy looks to be going in a good direction. Road kill is f'in brilliant! Did they do the oval racer chassis rat rod thing? Brilliant
