Ugly Diesel

Please welcome ugly diesel which will hopefully become my New run about / dog taxi.

A no turbo diesel of 1991 vintage which ha had the peugeot body styling catalogue thrown at it from New . First owner had it for 10 years, second for 16 years and now me....poor thing.

Plans are to get it running after lying unused for 2 years, mot'ed, then tidied up. I think it would suit some 1.6 gti alloys

Looks in good condition in that pic :) Those stick on replica arches look really weird, especially on a 5 door

I've got the full dealer kit on my 205 as well but thankfully the original owner didn't specify that rear spoiler. Not sure what they were thinking when they designed that as it really didn't suit the tailgate, although it's probably a nod to the various spoilers being made by the likes of Mattig in the late '80's / early '90's as part of their bodykits, as well as the obsession that some aftermarket stylists had to replicate their own version of the Cosworth Whaletail.

Pic is very deceptive......massive lacquer failure on wings and doors .....it's wet in the pics! (From eBay ad) the lacquer had crazed, bleaching the paint in weird honeycomb like white lines, then has fallen off almost down to the trim lines leaving patterned but surprisingly flat matt paintwork.and its about 5 years overdue a clean to the lovely beige interior.

Hmmmm...... I think I'll hand you the ugly prize.....I you'd like the fluffy wheel cover to compliment the pink paintwork I can post it to you..... but it probably goes best with beige!

But can you spot another couple of irregular /unusual bits in the interior?

Wait - does that wheel cover match the drivers' seat (can I see in the very first pic)..?! And what's the thingy to the left of the dash..?

Maybe we need a thread for ratty/ugly 205s..? B)

Aircon?

Ah ha ....we're doing well. The seat, luckily, does not match the dead ferret on the steering wheel

but it does have an air con SWITCH lol to fill the extra hole on the somewhat more interesting five switch dash panel.

The "thingy" is a screen mounted (before it lost its sticky) radio receiver for the presently defunct central locking and alarm system. Once started I'll turn the key....(remember these?) on the big alarm box in the engine bay.

I'd not taken any photos yet these are from the eBay ad........there's a reason there was no full frontal in the ad............. watch this space.

But to cover up the beige steering wheel is criminal! Would have gone well with the famous tsw wheels had I kept them.

Has no-one noticed the uber cool front window deflectors???

And here's a teaser of the front......lovely grille lights almost visible. And for a real treat....zoom in on the wing mirror.

I do hope you are keeping the mismatched wheel trims as well?

And the mismatched / missing arches on the driver side - is that a bonus mini mirror as well :hehe:

Arches are in the boot just needing tiger seal. Yup little mini mirrors on balljoints. Not that there's any reflective stuff left....

Given all the other "options" the original owner ticked, I was surprised there wasn't a tow bar attached as well :hehe:

At least there's a decent exhaust tip on that rear bumper - the last owner of mine had the original downward pointed tip and it's obliterated the paintwork over the years :(

I notice the reverse & fog lights seem to fit about as well / flush in your rear bumper as they do in mine - i.e not very.

At least the upper rear spoiler is a bit more in keeping with the kit.
