Sunroof Blanking - Worthwhile For Track-Day Car?

As above, I have my track-day 205 GTI-6 down to 886kg with cage and full tank of fuel, and the sunroof is the only bit of luxury left in it!

 

What gains are there to be had from removing and blanking? Are they as heavy as I'm led to believe?

 

Although the car is road legal and I do use it for the odd weekend blast, I could make do without the glass... and think losing a bit of weight from the top of the car wouldn't do it any harm!

I had carbon fibre plate made for mine my main concern was if i had a roll id end up covered in glass . i think ben who made mine will still have the template

Yes that's a very good point I hadn't thought of that! That would be ideal, although it sounds expensive?!

Can't change the windscreen, the rest are polycarbonate...
