Recommended Posts

I have strange problem and it occurs only I think when engine is warmed up . For exaple when I touch gas pedal , rpm sometimes stops 1500 - 2000, and if I blip the pedal rpm would go back to normal, also when it happens if I put my foot behind pedal & pull with the foot pedal back , rpm would go normal. Did someone had this problem ? I cannot find here acelerator cable so I can try new one ? Can someone provide me part number for cable ? Thanks

pull with the foot pedal back

have the same problem with my Cti.

The spring isn't strong enough on the throttle body to pull the pedal up.

Have you painted / powder coated the accelerator pedal? I'm assuming my problem is that the plastic bearing for the pedal is too tight around the powder coating.

I had this problem before. The throttle cable was tight.

Take the end of the cable off the TB and check how free it is. If it's tight you may get away with spraying some lubricant down it or you may have to replace it. I think I used a universal type.

If it is free as said above check the strength of the spring on the TB.

I ve changed throtle cable with new one, problem is still there... But What I notice ,is that , this only occurs when car is very hot, and when it is crowded in street, traffic jam or something. When I drive long distance , everything seem ok... I will try to find spring on TB to try....
