jonb_5 6 Posted May 16, 2016 I have a BE1 gearbox and I'm really struggling to find the leveling plug. There is no odd one out on the end plate of the gearbox. Do I just fill it up with 2 litres and that's it?? Many Thanks Jon
toolie72 67 1 Cars Posted May 16, 2016 Bolt with copper washer under it, fill it until it starts coming out-obviously if you're jacked up at a crazy angle it won't be right (supposed to be level) Technically you should replace copper washer There's always some left so two litres probably won't go in I usually put a hole in the bottom of the oil can and bungee it up upside down so it trickles in-but I'm lazy and wander off for a tab
Mac Crash 78 1 Cars Posted May 16, 2016 http://www.205gtidrivers.com/articles.html/_/articles-guides/gearbox-drivetrain/gearbox-swapping-guide-r60 correct info is here...
jonb_5 6 Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks for the info. My issue is that none of the bolts look bigger or washers that would suggest they are copper. Is it possible to not have one?? Or would it be possible that it use the same bolt as all of the others?? Thanks Jon
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted May 16, 2016 Not all BE1 box's had the level plug on the end cover, It's on the front case but if empty filling with 2l is fine and what most people would do
welshpug 1,656 Posted May 16, 2016 ive seen alloy washers used, but as Miles said the earlier be1 boxes have a plug on the front with a square drive hole iirc
