Woody205

Hi I have a 205 gti 1.9 on an f plate and I'm struggling to find which air flow meter I need as the part number on mine doesn't seem like others the part number on mine is 0280202330 or it could be 0280202033 I'm not too sure off the top of my head but it's the last 3 digits that don't match others anyway, any help would be greatly appreciates

0280202033 is an AFM from a Vauxhall, so that'll be wrong.

If your 1.9 GTi is a non-CAT (Jetronic) then you need 0280202109 and if it's a CAT (Motronic) then you need 0280202202

The later Motronic AFM is shared with 405/BX 1.9 Mi16 engines and more commonly advertised as that on here, eBay etc.

Ahh brilliant thanks for your help, when I bought the car it had a seized fuel pump and burnt fuel pump relay so I replaced those and it still didn't start but when I unplug the air flow meter it will start for a few seconds.no idea how someone fitted a vx air flow to it but thanks for your help mate hopefully this solves my starting issues now

Various Bosch AFM's of that era will "work" to a degree but the calibration is wrong and thus chances are that the fuelling will be out.

If it won't start at all with it plugged in though then it's probably screwed - worth checking that the flap inside moves freely as occasionally they'll get stuck if left sat in the damp.

Yeah the flap moves but it just won't start and to be fair the car hasn't seen the road for about 12 years so could do with another if I can find one that works.if not I may just go down the r6 bike carb route if I can manage to install it all as Ive never done a conversion like that before
