Powers 13 Posted May 11, 2016 That's a shame. What about 306 or xsara ones?
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted May 11, 2016 Most 306 rack's are NFP, but at the price you would not want to buy one , list at £1183.
welshpug 1,655 Posted May 11, 2016 you can still get the bits that wear, i doubt the rack and pinion themselves wear much.
Powers 13 Posted May 11, 2016 I will strip it and see. Are the components available from Peugeot? I remember Quaife doing a quick rack. Is this still available? These 205's are getting harder and harder to restore!
James_K 6 1 Cars Posted May 12, 2016 I've got a non pas gti rack going spare if you want, no charge
dawning 11 Posted May 12, 2016 I bought a "bearing" for the steering rack today, the one that goes in one end of the rack. It cost less than 3 quid so it must be quite flimsy, but it is comprised of 3 parts according to the parts diagram, apparently this does wear. There is also some plastic and a spring to hold the pinion down I think (ive never actually taken one appart but thats what it looks like from the diagrams. Probably worth replacing as its plastic and a spring but ive never heard of this casuing problems. Anyone got any advice on that, I would rather replace if there is any chance of failiure. I would imagine the pinion bearing is not worth replacing really.
