Rear Wiper Arm/motor

Quick question. Does the rear wiper arm come off the shaft allowing the motor to pull through from the inside or is it the other way round?

Removed the 13mm nut on the wiper arm last night but could not get the arm off the shaft at all. Also tried undoing the two bolts that hold the motor to the tailgate to pull it off the shaft but wouldn't budge either. I'm doing away with the whole assembly anyway so don't mind resorting to cutting it off but just wondered what is the usual method for removal.

Cheers

The wiper arm should come off the shaft. The order should be: lift the cover on the arm on the outside. Undo the nut. Remove arm from shaft (sounds like that is stuck. Penetrating oil/heat/gentle tapping). Then you will see another nut which holds the motor shaft against the tailgate. Undo that. The motor withdraws through from the inside with the splined arm rotor shaft.

I thought that was the the case, thanks for confirming. I'll give it a go with some fluid tonight and see if it budges.

If it works and you no longer need it, how much for it motor and relay that's in situ?

You shouldn't need to whack it or use penetrating oil to free the wiper from the motor shaft. It's on a tapered shaft. The way that always works for me is to remove the first nut as light flow describes. Then bend the wiper arm up 90'. Then gently rock it back and forth. You have so much leverage on it, it easily frees itself.

Tried that yesterday but it was well and truly stuck on there. There appeared to be some light corrosion on the metal insert and around the threaded shaft which i cleaned off but I'm assuming that's what is causing the problem.

Tartanbloke - I'll drop you a message if i manage to get it off without damaging anything
