5 Sided Bolt On Calliper

My 1990 205 gti has 2 5 sided bolts holding the Callipers on , any ideas when I can get a decent socket to undo these ? I've tried 18 and 19mm sockets but there too small and too big ..??

you dont need to touch those, they only hold the pad carrier on, you can buy the socket for them if needs must, but ive never needed to, just undo the 19mm/t55 bolts that hold them to the hub

Oh right , I've tried to undo those ones as well , there welded on :( Any tips for getting them off ?

I'll try a breaker bar then , don't want to brake the bolt ..

I highly doubt you will BREAK the bolt securing the BRAKE caliper.

 

They do get assembled with threadlock, and tightened a fair bit, so its quite normal to need a breaker bar.

 

 

If you are replacing the pads, you don't need to remove the caliper.

Cheers , I brought a breaker bar that didn't shift the bolts but luckly neighbour had a power tourque drill which finally shifted them..

Fitted some new brembo discs and pads , But.. The spring clips that where on the old pads at the bottom won't fit back on , I have fitted the slider bar at the top, but do I need the spring clips as shown in the photo on the old pads ? Or will I be fine without them ? The new pads didn't come with any other fittings .

yes you do need the anti rattle springs, quite easy to fit after the pads are installed
