iwallers 10 Posted April 26, 2016 Hi, I want to take off the wind trim but can find any guides or pictures. Don't want to start without knowing what to do. No pictures in Haynes? Thanks in advance
GLPoomobile 958 Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Under the arch itself it's held in by a combination of "fir tree" barbed plastic clips, and some star washers. First thing you want to do is try and remove the star washers, so get under and clean away all the muck so that you can find these. I'm not sure on the best method of removal but in the (distant past) I've just used a combination of pliers and/or screwdrivers to gently ease them back whilst simultaneously (and gently) pulling the arch trim away from the arch. Whatever works for you. Just be gentle so nothing snaps. Beware that the star washers clip on to moulded "pins" on the arch trim, so if you snap one of the pins you have buggered it. For the fir tree clips, it's just a case of gently pulling the arch trim away from the arch and these will pop out. Again, be gentle as over enthusiasm can result in the moulding of the trim that holds the clip in place snapping off. Depending on how many times the trim has been on and off in the past you may find that the barbs on the clips have worn away, but replacements can be easily found on eBay as they are a common clip. Last bit is the two clips that hold the back part of the arch trim to the wing (by the door). These are again fir tree clips but they have a specifically shaped head and not only hold the trim in place but also hold the red strip. MY personal method is to leave the red trim in place and just carefully prise the arch away from the wing. Again, it should pop out easily enough if you are slow and gentle.
