Parts Needed For Rear Bumper Mount & Sill Repairs & Reassembly

Recommended Posts

ATK

Right, gotta have my rear sills repaired so am going to get my rear bumper mounts done at the same time.

I have the rear bumper mount plates (from skyquake on here - steel) and a set of bumper bolts also from on here.

Am I correct to say that rather than buying new sills (are they available anyway?) that the bodyshop are better just cutting out the bad bits and fabricating new pieces?

What other parts am I likely to need - for completeness lets assume everything is rusted as f*** and needs replacing.

So far in addition to the above:

Set of arch trim clips (mayaswell get the fullset)

Rear valance stays

What else?

Regarding the sills, they are still available. It is worth gettting your body shop to rub yours back to find the extent of the damage first. I bought a pair of sills and ended up not needing them as mine weren't that damaged.

How easy is it for bodyshop to replace the entire sills then?

Pretty straight forward, mine were replaced both sides

Also be a good opportunity to inspect the inner sills.

I would have both sides done then you know it's good to go for many years if the rust is starting to come through

Do the front wings have to come off? How do they get the sills under the rear quarter panel without the quarter panel being replaced?

Would you say its a days work for both sills and what would a decent price inc paint be?

the quarter panel is not attached to the sills, they are seperate panels, my wings came off coz they were way past their best, but at a guess i think it looks way easier to get at if the wings are not there

not sure on the time frame, depends on how quick the bloke who is working on them
