Why The 1336.h7 Is Plastic?!?

Hi,

i have a coolant leak from the rear water flange (under the brake booster in RHD cars). i saw that the end cap is leaking. i tried to remove it but it's not moving, i tried to put silicone on the cap but it's not working...

i thought to myself - why peugeot made this part from plastic? there is a reason or they just cheap out? because it seems to me that it's the system's "achilles heel".

how can i fix it?

Early ones are alloy and providing that you change the coolant as required (to prevent alloy corrosion) are pretty much infallible.

 

The later plastic type like that are fine when new, but they tend to get brittle with age and it's far from unheard of for them to break without warning. That said, I've never personally had any issues.

 

Same applies to the thermostat outlet - alloy on earlier cars and plastic on later ones.

that weird ... i have 1.6 year 1990 and i have alloy thermostat and plastic back.
