Hi!

What is the best camshafts for everyday use?

I already use pt81 cams, but this has too much overlap...

The obvious question is what are you running piston wise, as the standard cutouts are typically the limiting factor with cams on the RS engine?

Also, what management and induction - I'm guessing standard in both cases if you're saying PT81's have too much overlap.

PT81's are pretty mild, I have run PH2's which aren't too dissimilar and I haven't had any issues at all even on a standard unmapped ecu, also passed emissions tests without issue.

only way I can think overlap is too much is if cam timing is wildly out.

When i timed it correctly, the vacuum disappears.

On standard timing mark has no issue, but no power...

there are no timing marks, you need to time them up with a dial gauge.

Do you know what lift @ TDC the cams are now?

If it where mine, I'd set the inlet at 109, exhaust 112.

kent spec is 110 on both, 1.65mm lift @ tdc inlet.

my ph2's were also 110 degrees but 1.4mm.

I think I found the problem.

I measured the full lift of each cam.

Results: 10.58 mm to 10.8 mm :(

nothing wrong with that much lift, its beyond 10.9 iirc you will have issues with the springs
